What are the regulations about taking pets to the Cayman Islands?
Basically, your vet has to contact a government vet for a USDA health certificate. Your dog also must have a microchip transponder and a rabies shot within a year of going to the islands. Then, on arrival on Grand Cayman, the pet will be examined by a local vet. The government has posted a list of breeds that aren't allowed (pit bulls, etc.) Pets who frequently travel to the islands can actually obtain an Animal Passport! Will I blow away in a hurricane?
Probably not. Because storms usually approach the Brac from the south, the land for Scuba Blue Estates was specifically selected for its location on the northern side of the island. In addition, the 130-foot bluff shelters the southern exposure of the resort and protects it from battering winds. As for hurricanes, the Cayman government maintains a close watch on approaching storms and will order an evacuation of the island’s tourists in the event of a serious threat. Even so, there are public shelters nearby where you can “batten down the hatches” if you find yourself riding out a storm. Plus, all the buildings at Scuba Blue Estates are built to the same standards as Dade County in southern Florida. So, you know that they are sturdy and hurricane-resistant.
